The Vie Jolie vase is four shapes that are very nearly the same object, and the differences reward attention rather than announcing themselves. Chantale Grande is the broad one at 4 inches square and 3.5 tall. Chantale Petit trims to 3.5 in every direction. Lucie and Renee share identical measurements, 3.5 square and 4.5 tall, and differ only in the curve of the shoulder, which is not an error in the listing but the point of having both. As a vintage glass flower vase the reference is pressed domestic glass of the mid-century, and calling it a french style vase describes the proportions rather than the origin. The glass is thin enough to be worth handling carefully and thick enough that nobody has to be told so. Short stems suit all four, and a mixed handful spread between two of them does more than a full arrangement crammed into one. Nearby each other they read as a family. Separated they read as four unrelated purchases. Buy two
